POESIS COUTURE

one of a kind from St.Petersburg

The founder of Poesis Couture trade mark Aliona Volskaya began experimenting with various fabrics and materials at a rather young age of 18 years when she entered the University of Culture and Art in St. Petersburg. While studying arts she began making one of a kind fur coats, leather coats and evening gowns of her own design. Initially all the things she made were distributed only trough friend and later trough private clients. One year later during a visit to Paris some people form French retail industry saw her wearing a rather unusual and elegant coat proposed to sell it in Paris. That is how the first things designed by Aliona showed up at a multi brand boutique at Champs Elysees at 2002. One year later she moved to the Voyage boutique at Avenue Montaigne. The response by the public including the most demanding one was so great that in 2004 it was decided to put a special emphasis in the future to her collection. That is how a boutique at 17 rue de Grenelle was opened where only her collection and collection by Jenny Peckham are exposed. Now Poesis has it's own showroom at 12 Avenue Montaigne (by appointments only) All these years Aliona was developing her tradition of using the most exotic materials in her items such as pythons, crocodiles, eels, skates and best furs such as ermine, lynx, chinchilla, sable etc.

At same time as she became more and more excited by antique and historical gowns, she looked for elements that could be potentially used in new collection in antique shops all over Europe. As a result the first collection of gowns with antique laces, silks and buttons but with a striking modern original design appeared in 2005.

The number of people who fell in love with the Poesis collections grew which inspired Aliona to new and brave collections. Today like six years ago Poesis creates only one one of a kind couture pieces each being designed personally by Aliona, who makes sure that no two models are alike. Each piece is hand made in her studio in St. Petersburg.

Usually it takes about one month to design, choose materials and manufacture each piece.

With growing Poesis recognition in Europe and Russia the collection of evening gowns was purchased for models for Cannes Festival in 2006. Number of shows have been organised in Paris: Defile associated with art exhibition of French artist Chayan at Place Vendome (16.03.2007) ; exclusive show at Place Pierre Carden during Film Festival (28.03.2007) ; presentation of the new collection in Colette shop in collaboration with Fashion TV (18.09.2007) New Years defile in Plaza Athene (13.01.2008) and many others are being planned in Europe.
